We're staying in town for Spring Break this year - it's our SB STAYcation. My idea is to act like we are Tourists in Our Hometown. I bought each child a disposable camera to capture the fun for our family album. To keep busy, like on an away vacation, I have created an itinerary.
Spring Break Itinerary:
Saturday - We'll kick off our fun in green catching beads at the 3rd annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in the Broadmoor neighborhood. Afterwards, lunch and shopping at Toy Fair for Easter clothes and spring shoes.
Sunday - Church and lunch with the Grandparents.
Monday - Take my critters to spend the day with the animals at Hidden Oak Farms. Next, we'll travel to the R.W. Norton Art Gallery. This gallery has a wonderful collection of art, a cool kids' sculpture room and an amazing doll collection any girl would die to have. Best of all, it's FREE! Be sure to bring your camera to snap some shots outside in the gardens.
Tuesday - Back to nature at the Walter B. Jacobs Nature Park. The park has live animals, such as snakes and owls, and interactive exhibits and lots to explore! For dinner, we'll hit the Family Fun Night @ Cheeburger Cheeburger. The kids love the balloon artist and their food served in an old fashion car. Plus, the food is very tasty. I highly recommend the onion rings.
Wednesday - St. Patrick's Day! Don't forget to wear green. Off to Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center for hands-on playing and an IMAX film. When we get hungry we'll cross the street for a picnic on the riverfront. Afterwards, a short walk to the Barnwell Gardens and Art Center. It features one of a kind handmade art, spectacular views of the Red River, and a domed botanical garden that is VERY cool.
Thursday - We'll go to Jubilee Zoo to pet the animals, ride the horses, play on the playground and jump in the bounce house. For dinner, maybe we'll take it easy with a movie and pizza.
Friday - Give the kids some time to release some energy and JUMP at Jumpin Jupiter. What better way than to jump, jump, jump! Tonight there is a FREE performance of the Shreveport Opera Xpress (SOX) at Barnes & Noble.
Saturday - Check out the Chimps at Chimp Haven. At Chimpanzee Discovery Day we can observe chimpanzees and have "Chimp Chats" with staff. Then off to the family matinee at the Robinson Film Center featuring the classic fantasy adventure Labyrinth. I remember loving this movie as a child.
Sunday - Whew! A day of rest will be needed and preparations for the school week ahead.
Monday - Back to School and work!
