This newsletter had me reflecting back on why I started SBfamilies.com almost 4 years ago when I had a newborn. My girls are now 2 & 4 years old, far from newborns but I still remember how I felt. The first year as a parent was very overwhelming. I searched for a ton of information and had to decipher what worked best for my family. I researched everything from pregnancy & parenting classes to childcare & preschools.
As SBfamilies.com continues to grow, it seems fitting that we take time to welcome new parents and focus on pregnancy and new parent resources in Shreveport-Bossier. Our goal remains the same as it has from the beginning -- to list parent resources in one place for you to search anytime without feeling overwhelmed or cluttering your life.
It is amazing to see how far technology has come since I had my first ultrasound 4 years ago. 3D or 4D machines weren't always available, and if they were, they were usually reserved for high risk moms.
Shreveport now has STORK VISION, a business dedicated to offering affordable 3D & 4D imaging in a posh, comfortable & relaxed environment without the wait of OB offices. You can bring the whole family in on a Saturday to see baby smile, yawn, suck their fingers or toes, and even open and close their eyes during the 3D ultrasound or 4D live motion ultrasound. It's a lot less clinical and everyone, including children and extended family, can be involved.
Shreveport-Bossier also has a number of other pregnancy & newborn services worth noting that aren't always out in front advertising. We've listed some below and you'll find a complete list in Pregnancy, Newborns & Toddler Resources.
There is a ton going on this weekend -- Easter Egg Hunts, Star Party @ Sci-Port and the Louisiana Film Festival. Hope to see you around town!
