Attack of the Crayons: Part II

Some of (BUILT IN) (Icons/Graphics) Art_Crayon_Box.jpgyou may recall my blog post "Crayons in the Dryer" from several years ago. Well, it's happened again. Crayons have MARKED the Cate household. This time it was no accident.

Caya, our 3 yr. old colored on new our couch and ottoman. [We've had it less than 1 yr.] At first, I was speechless. I couldn't believe she colored on furniture. She knew better, at least I thought she did. Then I realized something even worse ---I was sitting right in front of her. Was I really so preoccupied that I didn't even notice her coloring on the furniture? Yep! I was completely checked out. I was on the computer listening to what I thought was her dragging tinker toys on the couch. It was her coloring the couch.

Her punishment (and mine) was to clean it up before Daddy got home. I thought about calling the Queen of Clean to "talk dirty" but instead I called my mom, the Home Economist. She could out clean and problem solve Linda Cobb any day. Plus, she's my mom and who I call in times of need.

Mom reminded me that crayons are made of wax and grease. All you need is a little degreaser -- dishwashing soap. My mother prefers Ivory (w/out lotions for soft hands) to clean dishes, grease stains out of linens and clothes, and the car, of course.
Voilà! Crayon was out and the couch and ottoman we back to NEW. I hope you remember this "dirty talk" if your little one decides to get artsy and redecorate.

If hope you'll read "Crayons in the Dryer", if you haven't already. It's got recipe to clean crayons out of clothes and the dryer.

Have a GREAT weekend!
Allison

Tame Your Monkeys - Chocolate Monkey Shake

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of peanut butter
  • Chocolate milk (cow, soy, almond or rice -- all come in chocolate) to cover bananas in the blender
  • Frozen banana, broken into chunks before freezing in a ziplock bag
  • 1 scoop of protein powder (optional)

Preparation:
Put ingredients into blender and blend until smooth. You may need to add more soymilk if the ingredients are not swirling smoothly! If too thin, add more frozen bananas.
