Hoppin' down the bunny trail...Happy Easter!
 Family traditions make wonderful memories. My husband's family hides Easter baskets, NOT EGGS, for kids to find. My family hunted eggs and being the eldest of four, I hunted eggs well into my high school years (and secretly enjoyed it). Merging family traditions, our family hides eggs and Easter baskets. It's so much fun to watch our kids find the "jewel" of hidden treasures - their Easter baskets full of goodies.
A new tradition we are starting this year is making Resurrection Cookies. Making these cookies offers a fun, hands-on activity that teaches children the story of Christ's Resurrection. Step by step you mix ingredients, each representative of things in the Resurrection story. Then you place them in a warm oven and turn it off. The oven is taped, like a sealed tomb and cookies cook overnight. In the morning your family breaks the seal to find transformed batter with significant Christian meaning.
Easter not only celebrates the Resurrection of Christ, it also welcomes Spring and Jewish Passover. Did you know that Easter is rooted from the Festival of Easter, a spring festival?
I absolutely love to dye eggs for Easter! Eggs represent new life and spring. My children and I get a dozen each for decorating. We use glitter, stickers, crayons, paint, and dye, to make unique, one of kind eggs to hunt Easter morning. We usually dye eggs on Good Friday, while the kids are out of school.
