  5-6-7-8, A Gift That Dad Won't Hate

This week I heard an advertisement that went "5-6-7-8, A Gift That Dad Won't Hate". This chant has been stuck in my head for several days. I chanted it at least 3x yesterday while trying to think about an actual Father's Day gift for my husband. Effective marketing, huh?

Every time I chant it triggers the same question, "What type of Dad would hate a gift from his own child?". Have you ever heard a dad say, "Not another tie" and mean really it? They may actually say these words but NEVER mean it. Dad would be crushed if he didn't get his annual tie. We all know it's about the thought, not the gift.

It's time to start thinking about Father's Day gifts, not chanting. Just in case it's stuck in your head, too, here's one that is sure to make you laugh and forget all about.

Taco
Burrito
What's comin' outta your Speedo?
With that much gas
You can really float,
Puttin' around like a motor boat!

A chant for your child or DAD when they pass gas in their bathing suit.

Have a GREAT weekend!

Protein Power in a Summer Smoothie

HORCHATA SMOOTHIE
It tastes like horchata, the Mexican cinnamon drink usually made from Chufa nuts. For kids that don't like trying new things, it's a cinnamon milk shake. Yes, it's deceptively delicious.

1 scoop vanilla soy protein powder
1 ripe banana
1 bunch of grapes (usually frozen)
1 tsp. Cinnamon
3/4 cup vanilla rice milk (can use skim or regular milk)
Ice cubes (about 5 cubes)

This is a simple and easy smoothie to make! Very nutritious with a balance of protein and complex carbohydrates.

I make this for my daughters to pack in the protein since they don't love eating meat. It recently won an award in a smoothie recipe contest. That's right, this momma's experiment won so I HAD to share. - Allison Cate
